No events events detected

I bought and outdoor Nest camera I am using on battery power.  It will not record events even if I'm standing in front of it waving my hands. 

 

I've reset it

I have strong wifi connection 

Battery is fully charged

 I have no automation set up 

 

The camera is set to its highest sensitivity. 

 

It only recorded two events last night after a couple of hours of me testing it and jumping up and down. 

 

My nest doorbell is set pretty close to it and has no issues with auto recording. 

 

The light comes on when standing it from of it so it clearly sees me but won't auto record. 

 

What is the fix for this?

Posts in this forum from other customers seem to indicate that, when running on battery power, the Google Nest Camera (Battery) has trouble waking up to detect events, since it's in "Idle" mode when running on battery power. When we bought our one new Google Nest Camera (Battery) in Sept. 2021 we plugged it in with the optional power cable and it's "Live" all the time and detects events just fine. (The camera does, however, lack many of the features of our older cameras because the new cameras work ONLY in the Google Home app, as we discovered after installing it.)
