Notifications Stopped Showing Previews - Wired Nest Outdoor

We have 3 wired outdoor cameras. As of yesterday, the notifications that show up on my Samsung home screen no longer show a preview video of the activity captured, I dont even get a still photo. I have to open the app to see whatever the cameras are notifying me about. All was working fine until yesterday. This happened a year or two year ago also, none of the troubleshooting offered fixed the issue but the app corrected itself after a few weeks and began showing previews again. No changes have been made to my settings on the cameras, the app, my wifi connection or my phone.

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest outdoor camera notifications aren't showing previews anymore. Help's here!

 

Try the steps here:

 

Check Notification Settings in the Nest App or Google Home App:

Restart Phone and Nest camera:

Verify App Permissions:

  • Ensure the Nest app or Google Home App has permission to display notifications.

None of those suggestions resolved the issue, just as they didn't last time. Notifications are enabled and permission given. I made no changes to any of that before the glitch occurred suddenly. I restarted all before posting the inquiry. 

I do not need further assistance, I'll just wait for it to resolve.

Thanks for the follow-up information. 

 

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • Are your cameras 1st Generation or 2nd Generation?
  • Do you have an active Nest Aware subscription?
  • Is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on?
  • Did you try to use a different mobile device?
  • Do you use the Google Home App or Nest app?

 

In the meantime, let's try a few things:

 

  • Clear the app's cache
  • Uninstall and reinstall  the app
