Hi, since updating my Nest app to 5.73.0 notifications on my iPhone for door bell and cameras has stopped working. My wife was on the previous version with no problems she has since updated to the new version and she is now experiencing the same issue.

Hi Bebbsy70,

Thanks for posting here, and I'm sorry to hear that you and your wifie's Nest Doorbell and Nest Camera notifications on your phones has stopped working. To resolve the notification issue on your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Nest app and go to the settings menu. Enable notifications for your Nest doorbell and cameras, and select desired options like motion alerts or doorbell rings.
  2. Configure your iPhone's notification settings to allow notifications from the Nest app. Go to the Settings, select "Notifications," and locate the Nest app.
  3. Close the app completely and relaunch it to see if notifications work again.
  4. Ensure your iPhone has a stable internet connection, as notifications rely on it. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest app.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe

Similar issue with Android version 5.73.0.3. Get silent notification, but no sound or vibration. Get the vibration on my smartwatch, but not on the phone. All the non-Google apps work correctly.

Hi everyone,

@dawInMN, thanks for letting us know. Let’s get this sorted — a few questions: is there a pending Android update? Is there enough memory on your phone storage? Also, is the Do Not Disturb setting off and the Background app refresh on in your phone settings?

Going over the steps here might help:

  1. Go to the device's Settings > Apps > Home > Storage & cache.
    • Tap Clear cache.
  2. For Android devices, go to System settings > Sounds and notification > App notifications > Google Home and follow the configuration below.
    • Block all is disabled.
    • Allow peeking is enabled.
  3. Try another mobile device.

@Bebbsy70, were you able to try the troubleshooting steps provided by Zoe?

Let us know how it goes.

I appreciate your input, Zoe.

Regards,

Jenelyn

1. Followed these steps, tapped Clear cache and Clear data. Had to log back in, clear the annoying google ads, and the notifications now work. Note that these steps are different from the steps found on the google help pages.

2. These steps do not work on my phone running Android 12. "Sounds and notification" does not exist under settings.

3. Don't care because it works now.
