Notifications from nest doorbell to google home app

kdeebee

I just received and installed a nest doorbell battery. I'm using the google home app. The device works fine with one exception. I can't receive notifications on my iphone when the doorbell is rung.

As per this thread , I switched off my iPhone for 60 seconds and then it temporarily worked. But only for like an hour. Then it stopped working again. I tried restarting my iPhone again as a test but now even that doesn't work.

I did install the Alexa skill to announce visitors and at least that's working properly but I still want to receive a push notification on my phone for when I am not near my Alexa speakers.

@kdeebee

Earlier this year I quit receiving notifications on my iPhone; deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app fixed it.

Hi kdeebee,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing with us what you've done. Let's see what's going on here. To confirm, is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on? Have you tried using a different mobile device?

Give these steps a try:

  • Make sure that your Nest camera is online.
  • Try turning off and on your push notification.
  • Check the app settings on your phone and make sure that the notification option is enabled.
  • Try testing it on a different mobile device.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,
Emerson

Hello kdeebee,

How's it going with your Nest doorbell? We would appreciate it if you could share with us the information I'm asking above. Also, were you able to perform the steps I'm suggesting? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Best,

Hey kdeebee,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Regards,
Emerson
