Question. Can I connect the new nest cameras to the Nest app if they are plugged into the wall? If not are there battery outdoor cameras that connect to the nest app?

Google Nest decided that all of the Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website.

Yeah it is a real stroke of genius if trying to crash company because Home platform absolutely sucks. So bad in fact that I have to use Starling Hub to watch Live Video through Apple Home!! Yes, a 3rd party that is not even certified for Apple Home, works better than creator of camera and their platform. THAT is bull**bleep**.

Hi there,
Thank you for your help, MplsCustomer.
Thank you for your feedback on this, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest cams in the Nest app like you may be used too. However, you can now use the Google Home web app to view your cameras and doorbells.
The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.
Best regards,
Brad

What I found out is that the battery operated camera does not connect to the Nest app, even if it is hard wired.

Hey kirkris,
Thanks for getting back to us and sharing with us what you've found out. However, battery versions of Nest cameras can only be set up and controlled remotely from the Google Home app. Regardless if they are hard wired or using its battery. Let us know if you have more questions in mind.
Thanks,
Emerson
