Over half way through 2022 and still no web portal or clip download features

Earlier this year I bought 3 newer model Nest cams (2 outdoor and 1 indoor) assuming they had equivalent functionality to my old cameras.  I have grown accustomed to the features available on the legacy nest platform wanted my new cameras to play nice with my current setup.  Little did I realize that the new cameras are severely handicapped both by the Google Home App and the complete lack of a web/desktop portal.  I have an event I want to download that was not identified by the camera and yet I have no way of manually selecting and downloading a clip.   I never imagined the Google Nest experience getting worse and now we are over half way through 2022 and I yet to see any updates or word on improvements or support to make the situation right.  Does anybody have any more current info or any idea if there are any solutions on the way.  I just feel duped right now and am wondering why I spent so much on new Nest cameras.

I'm in the same boat... I just dropped a bunch of money for four cameras, a doorbell, and three hubs (2x Max and one 2nd gen) to tie it all together.

I'm completely underwhelmed by the hubs inability to stream more than one camera at a time, the inability to talk to a camera from a hub, and the complete inability to do anything camera-wise from a PC.  Further, the only cameras that show up in the nest phone app are the Hub Maxes.

The only thing that works is the Google Home app on my phone, but that defeats the entire primary use case for the Hubs in my household.

Further, the hubs like to drop off of wifi at random for a few seconds at a time where nothing else has this problem.

I'm strongly considering returning all of this and finding a better solution where the cameras are fully useable beyond a cell phone.

Hey all,

I wanted to follow up with you, and let you know feedback has been submitted. Let me know if I could be of any further help, as I am going to lock the thread in 24 hours to keep content fresh.

Best regards,

@Jake

How about, instead of locking this thread, you give us a progress report on Google Nest Vice President Rishi Chandra's Sept. 29, 2021 commitment to "bringing the experiences and Nest devices you have come to love in the Nest app into the Home app" and "rolling out a desktop experience for the Google Home app".

I agree with MplsCustomer.

At this point, it feels like Google/Nest lied.

Is it so hard to give a real answer. I am not even sure what Brad means by “I like that idea”? The idea that Google actually delivers the experience and features it promised? Not even sure exactly what feedback was submitted to Google on our behalf.

Also, there is nothing to keep fresh about this topic until there is a real update or change. Locking the thread seems more like silencing feature to keep this topic swept under the carpet.

What I was actually hoping for was a real answer/response or even an update on what is actually happening with Nest/Google Home integration to address this mess of missing features and disfunctional experience across generations of Nest camera products. They are after all glorified web cams saving video streams to a cloud service. What is so technically difficult to implement here?  If the original Nest platform is the better user experience please release firmware update (downgrading all my new generation Nest cams back to the old Nest platform/app). Please, at least give us some real answers.

Hey folks,

We appreciate your feedback here, I just wanted to say that we do not generally have the access to know when these plans are supposed to happen. But once we have an update, we will definitely let users know. Thank you for all of your patience! I know it's been a bit since Google talked about future plans. Please submit your feedback in the app and it will be forwarded.

Best regards,

Brad
