Overriding home and away routines

Pamperdamps

Anyone know a way of using the home away assist to turn the camera off and on. But force the camera to always be on regardless of the home away status between certain hours.

For example during daylight hours, when home turn off the camera, on when away. But between the hours of 11pm to 8am force the camera to be on, even if the status changes between home or away.

I want the security of the camera always overnight, but not the annoyance of alerts when home.

Thanks

Hi there,

Terribly sorry to hear that you are still having this same issue. I can understand it must be a frustrating one. But I can tell you that what you want, may not be a possibility. That is not generally how the Home/Away Assist option works. But I think that could be a great idea, so I will collect this information and move it forward. I am glad to see our community members thinking outside the box, and coming up with some great ideas! Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hey there Pamperdamps,

Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to hop in here to help. I believe I understand that you are basically wanting to just set up routines for your cameras or a schedule for them, I'm happy to take a look into this for you.

I was able to find a couple great articles that may help. This first one, Program a camera schedule with the Nest app will help you with setting up a camera schedule for your devices.

You can also, Set up and manage Routines, that may help to achieve what you are looking for.

I suggest reviewing those and then let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Garrett DS

I did see the response. Thanks.

It's not exactly what I want. I'm looking to be able to exploit "home and away" routine for daylight hours when we are awake. But at night always have the cameras turned on.

The thinking here being, reduce the amount of alerts during the day to what's relevant (security) . Where at night, when we are sleeping, being at home doesn't turn off the alerts, as we would want to be woken should someone approach the house.
