Person Detection is Worse Since Switching From Nest to Google Home App

Since I transitioned my Nest doorbell from the Nest app to Google Home, I've noticed that the face detection has gotten much worse. All of the recognized faces properly appear in the app and I still do notifications of "person detected" but it it used to get 90% of the faces accurately identified but lately it is barely getting 20%. It is not recognizing faces as well. Anyone else dealing with this issue?

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with familiar faces. I understand that you transferred your Nest camera from the Nest App to the Google Home App, and then the familiar faces stopped working as before. No worries, help is here.

Here are some tips for you:

  • Check the lighting around your camera. Check your camera’s view at different times during the day to make sure that there’s no glare from the sun or other light sources.
  • Review your familiar face library on a regular basis during the first few weeks, especially after you add a new person.
  • Restart the doorbell and check if it is detecting the faces.
  • Check your familiar face library and delete all faces, then re-add all new faces.

Please check the following articles: Troubleshoot familiar face detection and Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
