New Nest Cam (battery), used for outdoor with w/weather proof power. Connecting to Home installation with two existing devices (thermostat & doorbell).
Despite spending a fruitless hour on a support call, I was unable to connect to the Nest Cam from my 100% patched and rebooted Pixel 8a, including a fresh reinstall of Home app and cycling of wifi.
In frustration, I pulled out my backup Pixel 7a (which, FWIW, is lacking most recent security patch), and the Nest Cam connected right away and provided an opportunity to join a WiFi. The Nest Cam is now working normally on my network.
Afraid to patch the Pixel 7a now in case I ever need to install another device. Any suggestions?

That's similar to the reply by @Edmari on this thread:

Good call-out. I would note that the 8a has never successfully connected either. It failed on the very first try of the nest cam coming out of the box. Most salient factor in my mind is the 7a not being up to date on patches.
