Pixel PRO 9 XL no more notifications

Well it happened again, last year same time bought pixel 8 pro and installed new phone OS through setup and copied my data to new Pixel 8 Pro. Nest stopped sending notifications on Pixel 8 pro. Still get them on my old pixel 7a. There was no help whatsoever from Nest or Google. The ONLY fix and let me tell you this again ; NO OTHER FIX other than a factory reset without restore from backup made notifications come back to my pixel 8 Pro.

This year same story with my new Pixel 9 Pro. Still get the notifications on my Pixel 8 Pro but not Pixel 9 Pro anymore.

Clearly the issue is related to the restoring of data from older phone.

I don't want to do a factory reset again. Maybe this will ring a bell (pun intended) to Nest and Google there is something wrong with Nest notifications when restoring from a backup. Crossing fingers 🤞🏼 not to have to factory reset.

Hi Kinda,

I had the same problem but with a Galaxy S22 to a pixel 9XL. I found you need to clear the data and cache for the Google Home app, then uninstall and reinstall the app. I think we're getting locked out because of the notification permissions during the setup of the app.

Tried it but no sadly notifications are not coming back. I still use the Nest app and not Google home.

I used to get push notifications from my Arlo and another brand of security cameras. But no more. Checked permissions settings and as far as I can tell, I allowed all permissions.

Any solutions appreciated.

My notifications came back for nest. I think possibly turning notifications off in settings and back on fixed the issue.

I am having the same issue with my Pixel 9 Pro XL BUT, and it's a big but, my wife has not had any problems with her Pixel 9. We have just moved from Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 respectively. My Google doorbell is now useless to me. I didn't know if it was anything to do with Gemini replacing Google Assistant. Any solution that doesn't involve me factory resetting my phone would be greatly appreciated.

PS I noticed that TechSpurt on YouTube mentioned he had the same problem in his review of the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

OK I uninstalled then re-installed the Google Home App and that seems to have worked.

Just need to sort out the weather app in at a glance and I'll be happy

Got the video link. I'm desperate for answers. All my nest cam and doorbells are useless on my pixel 9 pro xl. Got an old pixel 3a receiving them so I know they are all working fine and it's something with the transfer from my 8 pro to my 9 pro xl

I know you said you're not using the home app but so did you try the procedure for the nest app? going to the app's properties clear the cache, clear the data. uninstall and reinstall. I just did this on the home app and got it working. I transferred from a pixel 8 pro to a pixel 9 pro XL

I've reinstalled the Google home app still no notifications on my side as my notification comes from the best app not Google home

Make sure to clear the cache and data before uninstalling the app then reinstalling. All the settings remain in your phone if you don't and you don't get a fresh installation. Also, check your permissions as well and make sure something didn't transfer over wrong. I had a few apps get notifications blocked during transfer.

I would try this for the Nest app too and see if it wakes up.

Have you been able to do anything or have they started working again? I just got the pixel 9 and no Google home notifications or nest notifications. Tried re doing all the notification settings, restarting... Nothing works

Some notifications have returned after I did some turning notifications off.... Then on again. Some haven't. My Arlo security camera notifications still don't work. They did on the Pixel 8 Pro..

I have been experiencing the exact same thing on my Pixel 9 Pro Fold. No Nest notifications at all. 

I have tried deleting all app data and reinstalling but that hasn't helped me. 

After a Google search, it seems as though this is a wide issue.

The factory reset was on your phone to get the notifications working again? Pixel 9proxl has not been getting notifications and i really don't want to have to do a factory reset.

Yes back last year, the same issue with my pixel 7 pro to pixel 8 pro. The ONLY things that made them work again are to factory reset WITHOUT coming from a backup. Meaning, Installing it fresh from the start. Not fun 😩

I'm experiencing the same issue. Moved from Pixel 6 Pro to Pixel 9 Pro. No notifications at all. Tried reinstalling the app, clear cache and data, even factory reset the phone. Still getting no notifications.

I deleted the Home and Nest app and also cleared the cache. Restarted phone and now have been getting notifications. It did take awhile for them to start showing up.

Which app are you getting notification from? Do you have nest installed as well?

Yes I did not transferred any neat camera or doorbell to Google home cause the most important features of nest are not yet transferred to Google home. So all notifications I was receiving prior to the installation of my pixel 9 from the Google one backup my "old" a pixel 8 pro was from that app and not from Google home. I still receive nest notification on my older pixel 7a. Wo clearly notifications are coming through. Just not on my new pixel 9 pro

I've found somewhat of a solution. Been experiencing this for about a week. Go to the Google Home App, Settings and Public Preview. I enrolled onto that and after an hour or so, opened the Home app and it asked me if I wanted to permanently move my cameras over. So I did this, and now I'm receiving camera notifications through Home and can Uninstall Nest

I don't want to delete nest app yet because important features, not only but like timelapse are not ported to google home yet. I use this all the time. So got me it's nest app notifications I'm interested in mostly

Having the same exact issue since upgrading from P8Pro to P8Pro XL. I've cleared cache and storage, uninstalled and reinstalled app. Home app, Whisker (Litter Robot), and my Unifi app (cameras) aren't sending notifications at all.

Hello all,

The following worked for me. I am now receiving notifications from Nest (doorbell and cameras) on my Pixel 9 Pro Fold, so I hope it works for the rest of you.

Bear with it and try it, on the face of it this seemed odd but it did work for me and must be a coding issue.

• Open Settings on your phone.
• Tap System > Languages > Regional preferences.
• Ensure all sub-settings (e.g., Temperature, First day of week) are set to "Use default."
• Close phone Settings and open Nest app.
• In the Nest app go to Settings > Notifications and check your notification permissions. For me, after doing the above, all notifications were reset to off. Turn them on again.
• Close the Nest app for good measure. Fingers crossed you should now receive your notifications.

update: This did end up partially working, even though it didn't match how you described exactly - in case someone sees the same as me. For me, I changed the sub-settings as you said, but when I switches to Nest App, the notifications still showed as remaining 'on' in Nest. Since then, 'unlocked' notifications come, but not locking notifications.

Same with with my pixel 9 pro fold. Not getting any notifications from The nest home app. Getting it from the Google home app but not on the products that are connected to the nest home app.

HOw'd you get it on the Google Home App? I'm on the same phone but not getting it anywhere!
