Problem with Google Nestcams

I have been a NestCam user from the beginning, when they were only indoor cams and they were called "Drop-Cams"  In fact, NEST used a screenshot of a bear under our deck for YEARS on the boxes of their outdoor cams.  That screenshot was from an original indoor nest cam that was faced out of a window.  We got one of the first outdoor cams!

Since Google has taken over, the platform for viewing the live cameras and the footage has gone BACKWARDS!

Here are just a few problems:

1.) Cannot view all the cameras at once on my computer (and difficult to do on the Home App)

2.) Cannot easily scroll through the footage.  (Nest app allows scrolling through footage on computer and phone app, where you can see things that the motion detection didn't catch). Googles new scrolling (on the Home App) is by the second only... not minute or hour, so it would take FOREVER to scroll to the point you wanted to see.

3.) Cannot make clips, or time-lapse clips and start/stop the clip at a time(s) of your choosing.  Sometimes the motion detection doesn't cover every part of the clip you want to see so it is necessary to be able to change the start/stop time, or make a time-lapse of an amazing sunset, snowstorm, etc.

4.) When looking at "Full History" using Google Home... sometimes it takes FOREVER for the footage to show up.

WHY?? WHY?? Google Why... did you have to ruin a good thing.  Why couldn't you have just let all us use the Nest App for the new Google Nestcams?   Why do we have to use the Google Home app, that is TERRIBLE!

PLEASE say you are going to fix the problem, and soon, because I will NOT be purchasing another Google Nestcam, until then.  I used to recommend Nestcam to everyone who enjoyed seeing the footage I would post of the wild animals that would come around our house... Not anymore, I steer them away.  In the meantime, I'm shopping for a different system, unless you HURRY UP GOOGLE, and fix these important issues!!

I agree completely! We own numerous Nest cameras. All were installed and can be used/viewed seamlessly. I recently purchased a camera/floodlight not realizing it was not supported using the Nest app. It could only be installed via Google Home. I installed with reasonable effort but soon discovered all the limitations you described plus the very unfortunate reality that it is not capable of live viewing even though I have 24/7 viewing capability for all my Nest cameras! The camera will record "events" but only brief segments. This is no better than the worthless Blink cameras offered by Amazon.

I also had network issues and opted to reconfigure my network. When I did I could not find a way to reconnect the existing camera to the new network. I had to disconnect the camera from the old network and then attempt to reconnect to the new. Unfortunately now I cannot get it to connect at all. Google.... not a fan.

I couldn't agree more. The Nest app was very good and the google approach is a confusing mess. I can't see anything on my battery powered camera unless I turn hit the live video button even though it is supposedly on. I can't see live feed from alley cameras as I could with Nest. A response from Google would be nice.

Google products are absolute garbage fit only for the rubbish dump. Ive had issues for over a year and all google can do is blame everything else except their garbage products.

Google do not care about you me or any of their users the only thing they care about is $$$$. Just leave bad reviews wherever you can to dissuade other unsuspecting buyers its not being dishonest google cameras are always having problems so is the google home app. Think of your negative reviews as doing a community service because you are you're protecting others from the google advertising scam. The google scam that is these cameras do not have not and never will operate and perform as advertised.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We understand that some of the features from the Nest app are not available in the Google Home app. We also appreciate sharing your thoughts and ideas here; however, we don't have any news to share about applying this feature to the Nest app or Google Home app. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I'd suggest you send feedback using this link to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

Regards,

Emerson
