Questions about Google doorbel

HI,

I'm considering getting the Nest doorbell(s) for my house and have a couple questions. I have an existing wired doorbell on the front door. I would also like to add new doorbells to two other doors.

Can the new ones be connected (somehow) to the existing chime on the front door? If not, how might I know if/when someone comes to those doors?

Thanks!

@phbern

Connecting a second and third doorbell to your existing doorbell chime would require running doorbell wires to your doorbell chime and your transformer (depending on how it is wired). In addition, most mechanical chimes are designed to support just two doorbells (the connections are usually labelled "FRONT" and "REAR").

For your second and third doorbells, you could turn off the "Indoor chime" option and turn on "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) to get announcements on Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, or Nest speakers.

Thanks for your quick reply! One more question: can the visitor announcement be sent to a phone as well? I clicked on your link but didn't see anything about sending it to a phone.

@phbern

All Google Nest doorbells send a standard notification to your phone when the doorbell is rung unless you turn off "push notifications".

I'll go ahead and mark this one as resolved in the next day or two, but I'll leave it open a little longer in case anyone has any feedback or wants to add anything else.
