Reconnecting Nest Cam

Louise19

I am trying to re-use a google nest indoor cam that I have previously used (at a different address). Every time I set it up it says it is used on a different account. It can’t be a different account as I’m using the same log in etc as before. The only difference is the address.

So frustrated as it cost a lot of money and worked well at first, now I can’t find any way of fixing it. Can’t un-register it from my account because it’s not showing up.

The message you're getting about your camera being attached to a different account is really indicating that the camera is attached to YOUR account. Google Nest's process does not check WHICH account it is attached to.

This happens if you are trying to reinstall a Google Nest device without first removing it from your accountin the Google Nest app or Google Home app and doing a factory reset. Sometimes customers get into a predicament if they do not remove the device from the Google Nest app or Google Home app while they are still on their old Wi-Fi network. Sometimes a factory reset will allow them to reinstall the device; sometimes it won't.

There are factory reset instructions on this Google Nest Help topic:
