Replace Control4 doorbell with Google nest 2nd gen

I have a Control4 system in my home, including the doorbell, but the doorbell has been constantly giving me trouble, so I would like to replace it with a Nest wired doorbell 2nd gen.

2 questions:

1. Can I just uninstall the Control4 doorbell and wire the Nest (naturally it will work through the Nest app not the Control4 one)?

2. If the above is possible, will the existing chime that came with the home work, or will I have to install a dedicated chime?

Thanks.

Hello,  So a couple things.

I don't know anything about the Control4 doorbell. But yes, in theory you should be able to remove it and just connect the (2) writes to the Nest Doorbell.  But you need to make sure transformer you have that powers the chime inside the house has the correct specs.  16 to 24 V AC (North America) and  10 to 40 VA.

Next, despite the name "nest" the new gen 2 doorbell ONLY works with the GOOGLE Home app.  So you won't be using the nest app with it.

Next, the Nest doorbell comes with a small white disk (aka THE PUCK) that you have to install a the chime inside your house.  This puck acts as a bit of a traffic manage and is responsible making sure the chime RINGS inside your house when the button on the Nest doorbell is pushed.

Hope that helps.  If you get it and install it please come back and let us know how it went.

Oh, make sure you get the WIRED one.  The battery one has many complaints here on this user forum.
