Hello, I'm an end user like you and have been a user of the Nest cams for a long time. I'm 99% sure there is no way to bring back the familiar faces. I think they have a legal liability to delete everything once your subscription runs out.
If you want you can try asking an official Google Nest support person by opening ticket here.
