Talk and Listen not working on Samsung Phone (Very low sound) on Nest Doorbell

6 months ago I was unable to hear the doorbell audio being played back. It sounds like it was coming through my ear piece of my phone instead of the phone's speaker. I have since then bought 3 outdoor nest Cam batteries. And with the recent android 13 update. And the Google home update. It now totally bricks my phone speakers. And audio playback is basically useless. It is so choppy and even now even lower. I just do not know what to do.

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

Yes I was able to restart my phone but it continues. Interesting enough when I am wearing ear buds the audio is fine but the moment I take them out and sound is suposed to come out the phones speaker. The audio glitches. This is the only app that does this!

Hey there,

I’m sorry if you're still having trouble with this. No worries, we’ll sort this out — a few questions: has the doorbell been exposed to outdoor weather? Has the doorbell suffered any drops or impacts? Is the doorbell exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time? Also, is the doorbell in a case or housing?

Here are the troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Verify that the audio settings on your Nest app is correct
    • On the Nest app, tap the doorbell or camera > Settings, and set the Microphone on.
  2. When applicable, adjust the volume slider until you’re satisfied with the audio.
  3. Confirm if the audio issue happens on other mobile devices or computers.
  4. Restart your doorbell.
    • Insert the release tool into the hole at the bottom of your doorbell to remove it from its base. You can also use a paper clip or thumbtack.
    • Locate the reset button at the back of the doorbell.
    • With a pin, press and hold the button for 5 seconds.
  5. If all else fails, factory reset your doorbell.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

JT

No the doorbells aren't what the issue is. It's using the home app on my phone's speaker . All of the cameras are fine. It's when using the home app that when trying to listen to the doorbell or any of the nest security cameras. That the audio cuts out multiple times on my phone. When using Bluetooth headphones connected to my phone the audio is fine. It's when using the home app and opening up the camera tab that it immediately starts cutting my audio out. Which then continues on to every app on my phone and as soon as I close out the home app the audio goes back to normal.
