Terrible / useless night vision on new google nest cam

Daytime is good but night time vision is useless. My cameras are so dark and one of them shows very grainy/fuzzy. Is this a hardware or software issue? I’m past my return window but am very disappointed with these cameras. My $50 wyze cam works better.

Yes i'd appreciate any advice you may have. honestly regret purchasing 4 of these nest cameras for my house. The night vision is absolutely useless. And to think that Google would have better face recognition, well it doesn't - the cameras always mistake different "familiar faces".

Agree completely with the original poster. We used to own 7 of the original (pre-Google) Nest drop cams and even though the software had issues occasionally with the Nest app, we seriously are regretting replacing them all with the new cameras a couple months ago. The video stream is inconsistent, it’s impossible to scrub the video, and the overall usability of the app is just horrific. It should be easy to reference back to video quickly as it was before with the old hardware/Nest app, but it’s not. The icing on the cake is that the night vision is terrible, as mentioned. We used to be able to see everything and now the quality on every single camera is terrible.

Hey folks,

Terribly sorry its been a minute since my last response! I would love to know if y'all have tried to Restart all of your device, or have tried to Factory Reset your devices to see if the camera night vision improves?

Best regards,

Brad.

Yeah, we've tried a handful of things (including factory resets). I am an IOT product designer, so I am pretty familiar with the space and troubleshooting for these types of products. Unfortunately, there are both software issues from a usability/stability standpoint, as well as what seems to be issues with the hardware. Additionally, the split between Google Nest and Google Home is crazy - why do I have to open the Nest app for the Nest outdoor cameras? I just don't understand why they haven't integrated these products yet, it's been years since the acquisition. The ecosystem feels very broken right now and the hardware isn't performing well enough to justify the "wait" for the software to be fixed.

of course. resetting is the first thing all troubleshooters tell us to do! nothing has changed. night vision is still garbage. huge regrets. appreciate if you can advise further .... and hopefully sooner than another 3 weeks...
