Trouble adding a second nest doorbell cam

Mtsparky

This is a wired not battery nest doorbell.  I installed a second nest doorbell but when I attempt to add it to the nest app it doesn't list the last 4 of the serial number of the new device.  It only lists the last 4 of the existing nest doorbell.  The QR code rubbed off the back of the device and the box is no where to be found.

Are you saying that, when you select "Continue without scanning" and enter the 6-character Setup Code on your second Google Nest Hello Doorbell imprinted below the QR Code (as shown at 2:18 in this install video: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247327?hl=en), that the install process does not display the last 4 digits of the serial number imprinted above the QR Code on your second doorbell, but instead displays the serial number imprinted above the QR code on your first doorbell?

If that's what's happening, that would be a most extraordinary error, and you could call Google Nest Help starting at the link below to see what you're supposed to do:

That is precisely what is happening. When I remove the first doorbell and attempt to install the second doorbell it gets to the select the last 4 of the serial number no choices are displayed.

@Mtsparky

I've seen other reports in this forum where, when setting up a camera using the Setup Code, the app never comes back with the serial numbers; some customers report that if they wait awhile, the serial number eventually displays--implying some sort of delay with Google Nest's servers.

Why are you removing the first doorbell before attempting to install the second doorbell?

I  had figured if the first doorbell was not connected that it would stop listing the last 4 of that one's serial number it would search out the second doorbell. Unfortunately that was a no go.

@Mtsparky

Here's another recent instance where the last 4 of the serial number simply fails to display.  It certainly seems this must be a problem with Google Nest's servers, since the install process has to go somewhere online to obtain the serial number that goes with the Setup Code:

So I am seeing quite a few similar problems but no solutions.

Sorry, I'm just another customer. I've seen two resolutions posted. The first is that some customers say the Google Home app eventually returned the last 4 digits of their serial number after several tries and waiting awhile. The second is that some customers say the battery in their device is depleted and the device isn't functioning; have you tried plugging in the misbehaving battery doorbell to charge the battery up?

If those don't work, you could try contacting Google Nest Support to see if they can resolve it:
