I'm trying to setup a routine to turn on and off the nest cam with my google voice assistant, but it's not possible. I added two google cameras to my google home app, but when I try to make a new routine there's no way to turn on and off the cameras with the routine. Is this normal? I thought this would be the easiest thing to do...

I just bought a nest cam indoor wired and simply want to turn it on/off with google assistant or with the nest hub but it is not possibile!
I don't get it: i'm using a GOOGLE nest hub with a GOOGLE nest cam but, if the camera is turned off, i need to use my other brand smartphone to turn it on. Only then i can use it on my nest hub...
Same story with the routines: the camera doesn't shows up so i can't create a routine with it!
Are you (google) planning to release this feature? I bought your camera to have a consistent environment and i'm really disappointed by the lack of this simple toggle action.

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. If you are using the Google Home app; at the home page, click on Cameras > and at the top-right hand corner tap the three dots and you should see options to Turn all cameras on and Turn all cameras off, Help, Feedback, etc. Check there to see if you can turn them off there.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I think I have the same issue as Jules: The camera is working fine when manually clicking on the cameras to turn them on or off in the Google Home app, as you mention Brad. The problem occurs when trying to create a routine in Google Home to turn the camera on or off. Only in the Home and Away routines, it is possible to pick the cam and turn it on/off. For all other routines, for a really strange reason, the cam is not available. When using the Google Assistant to say "Turn on [cam name]", the Google Assistant answers this device is not yet set up. I have tried to include the name of the room where the cam is located into the command + several versions of "turn on, activate etc" (only in my native language as the Google Home is set up in my own language), but always get the same result: Google Assistant does not manage to turn the cam on.
Is there any way to include the cams in routines other than the Home/Away-routines, and also to turn the cam on/off by using Google Assistant?

I don't know if you were answering to me or Jules, anyway i'm clarifyng my issue.
The on/off does work on my google home app on my android smartphone.
The problem is that i also have a google nest hub in my living room and i would like to turn on and off the camera on it by either saying "ok google turn on/off the [name of the nest cam in the google home app]" (in my language), either by clicking somewhere on the nest hub.
This seems to be not possible and the issue is also present on the assistant on the smartphone, as @Sander_ said a few minutes ago.,
In the assistant, if i give, say, the turn on command, the assistant starts a web search.
In the nest hub, if i give the same turn on command, the nest hub answers that it is turned off and there is no switch to turn it on/off.
I tought i might be able to circumvent the problem by creating a custom routine, but the nest cam is not present in the list of devices. I can, instead, find most of third party devices such as a Netatmo thermostat, Sonoff switches and so on...
Only if the camera is turned on i can watch it on the nest hub (by either clicking on it on the list of devices, or by giving the "ok google, show [name of the nest cam in the google home app].
I think it definitively should be possibile to turn on and off the camera in the Nest Hub too? Is that planned to be... i would't say released... i'd say fixed, in the foreseeable future?

@Sander_ and @jak_drizzt
It is true that you cannot turn on or off a Nest Cam with routines. I am not sure if you can do the same with the Nest Hub built in camera either.

Just want to know if it will be possibile, in the future, to turn on/off a nest camera via google assistant or in the nest hub.
Is this a feature that is planned to be released?

I honestly have 0 information if/and/or when this will become a feature or not. It is a great suggestion though! I am always happy to forward any feedback that our Community Members have, but you can also leave your direct feedback within the Nest and Google Home Apps. I personally could see the benefit of being able to turn on/off the camera via Google Assistant.
Please let me know if you need further assistance!
