Unable to set up event notifications for cameras

We installed two battery outdoor nest cams, a battery doorbell and a wired indoor cam. Only the doorbell sends event notifications. When we open the individual cameras and go into the event settings, we are unable to turn on any notifications. It tells us to choose which event notifications we want, but offers no way to select those events nor turn on the notifications. I have tried to reinstall the Google Home app, downloaded the Nest app but it sends us to the Google Home app, and subscribed to Nest Aware to see if that helped. Any suggestions? Thanks!

There are several aspects to setting up which events get recorded and which events result in notifications. You can try looking for Google Nest Help (https://support.google.com/googlenest#topic=7029097) for instructions, including this example:

return the cameras if you can and go with something else.  google is a joke.
