I wish to save footage with time and date stamp visible. s there a way of doing this? All I can find online is about how to show the datestamp while viewing but I can't make this work either.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME VIEW NEST OUTDOOR CAMERA DATE/TIME STAMP IN QUICKTIME PLAYER?
I am using Quicktime Player on an up to date Mac book Pro with Monterey. However the the Nest Google instructions don't appear to work.
https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9220856?hl=en
The instructions are at the above link and screenshot is attached below.
In 'View', 'Subtitles' is greyed out (see attached screenshot).
"Closed Captioning" doesn't appear to show. I assume this is because either the stamp is not in Closed Captioning or not in the CEA-608 format that Apple describe in their instructions (also attached). ?
Anyone know the answer?
If Quicktime player isn't suitable for this purpose - does anyone know a video player that is that is mac friendly?
Thanks in advance.

To be honest I'm really frustrated by this and can't see why nest cameras, which are more expensive both for subscription and for up front purchase are not able to give you the option of downloading saved clips with burnt in time and date stamp ie permanently in vision. This is something you can do on a ring camera which is less expensive to buy and subscription is half the price. What I've since discovered is a rather poor work around. If I save the clip on my iphone rather from laptop, I am given the choice to either share a link to the clip or save to photos. If playing in iphone photos, the time and date stamp will play automatically show up as it will if you send someone a link it seems. However, if I try and play the same clip from my laptop (also apple) in photos, it doesn't show up. Apple say that Quicktime does not allow you to turn on subtitles so there's nothing I can do about this. Even if I play the clips in VLC with subtitles turned on, I can't export them from there let alone export with the date and time burnt in to the picture. Trying to be exact about the in and out points for a clip on the phone is much more difficult therefore its not a good work around. Sending someoone a link will only allow them to watch it for as long as the clip remains in the nest aware account therefore its not partiucarly helpful either. I've now explained this to two friends who have decided to buy Ring instead. I'm beginning to wish I had too. 😞 I just can't believe it is beyond the wit of Nest/Google to come up with an option to download with burnt in date/timecode.

This is really really poor. The functionality was and is available in the original nest cameras and it isn't available on the "newer" / "better" Google Nest cameras. So when there is an incident and your "security" camera footage is requested by law enforcement the first thing they are looking for is the timestamps. This is inexcusable.
