Video Playback Not Working on Nest Cameras

I have nest cameras on three homes, and the video playback via the Google Home won't work on any of them - when clicked, stored videos just show a loading circle without ever playing.  I've had the cameras for years with no prior issues, and have active Nest Aware subscriptions for each home.  The stored videos can be watched with no problems via the home.google.com but not via the Android app.  Force closing the Android app sometimes allows videos to be replayed but then the issue occurs again - lately force closing doesn't seem to help at all.  This happens on all stored videos, whether recent, recorded earlier in the day, or on a prior day.

This isn't limited to my phone, as my mother (who has access to Nest cameras for two of the homes) is encountering the same issue.  We've tested this on three different Wi-Fi networks, as well as on my Google Fi service, and still no luck.  I'm hoping to resolve quickly as we rely on these cameras for security, and it's maddening to receive a notification of a person outside our house and not be able to playback the video.

I'm using a Pixel 7 Pro and my mother is using a Pixel 7a.  Most of the cameras in question are Nest Outdoor Cams (Battery), with a few first gen Nest Cameras.  For the first gen Nest Cameras we can view the videos with no problems in the old Nest app, but not in Google Home. 

Given that the videos can be watched via home.google.com and the old Nest app, and that the problem is persisting across three separate Home setups and two different cell phones, I assume there must be an issue with the app.  Please advise how to resolve or indicate that this is a known bug and is being investigated.

Same problem here as well...Force stop has been working for me but unacceptable to have to do this at all!!! Pixel 8 Pro

Given the lack of response from Google and this clearly being a widespread issue it seems that we should start looking for a non-Google solution to replace these poor-functioning Nest system and the expensive subscription to Nest Aware.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I'm happy to pay a premium for a product that actually works as advertised.
