The Nest outdoor cams seems to be useless for detecting animals lately. It used to detect lots of deer and animals in my backyard but now I find them in my stream later which no detection event. People work fine. Did you over optimize? I have samples I can provide but no one to send them to.

Still need help

I have the same problem, I unfortunately have rats taking up residence in my crawl space which can access the a garage somehow. I have a nest cam purchased in Marc 2021, useable in the nest app, which reliably detects their motion. I bought 2 more nest cams this July to help get more views, yet these cams don’t detect the motion from the rats at all, I need to guestimate the time stamp from what the older camera detected and browse the timeline to find the problem. It’s not a hard computer science problem, everything in the garage is motionless but the rats. Please fix this ASAP.

Hi thehof80,
I'm sorry to hear that. Let's get this sorted — a few questions: when did you first notice the issue? Have you checked your Nest app settings for the camera notifications if they're on? Do you have an Android or iPhone? Also, have you tried checking it on another device to see if it has the same issue?
Give these steps a try:
3. Sign in and turn all notification settings back on. If needed, double check if the Nest web app has the same settings.
If you’re an iPhone user go to the device’s Settings.
If you’re using an Android phone go to the device’s Settings.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
JT
