Which cameras do you have? The 2nd gen Google Nest Indoor/Outdoor Battery Camera (which we have had for over 4 years, plugged in with the optional power cable) and the 2nd gen Google Nest Floodlight Camera (which uses the same camera) both have a battery that SHOULD never get low if the camera has constant power. If the floodlight camera is on a switched circuit and the switch is not always on, the battery could drain. And if the USB plug on either camera gets corroded, that could cause the battery to drain. (The camera's USB plug seems rather flimsy.)
The battery on our battery camera has never gotten low in over 4 years (and it always shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol), but we have it mounted under a camera shade to shield it from snow and rain.

Update. The power supply was unplugged. 🥴 Issue solved. Thanks for all the replies. Much appreciated.👏
