I replaced my nest doorbell with a nest second generation wired. It worked for one day then quit. The base plate doesn't look as waterproof as the old one, don't know if this is an issue.q

Hi Larrytessari,
If your Nest doorbell was working for one day and is now offline, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the Wi-Fi connection: Make sure your doorbell is connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can check the connection status in the Nest app by going to the "Settings" menu and selecting "Wi-Fi info". If the connection is weak or unstable, you may need to move your router closer to the doorbell or install a Wi-Fi range extender.
Restart the doorbell: Try restarting the doorbell by removing it from the wall mount and then re-attaching it. You can also try resetting the doorbell to its factory settings by pressing and holding the button on the back of the doorbell for at least 10 seconds.
Check for firmware updates: Make sure your doorbell has the latest firmware updates installed. You can check for updates in the Nest app by going to the "Settings" menu and selecting "Device info".
Check the power source: Make sure your doorbell is receiving adequate power. If your doorbell is wired, make sure the wiring is securely connected and that the transformer is providing the correct voltage. If your doorbell is battery-powered, make sure the batteries are fully charged.
Regarding your concern about the base plate not being as waterproof as the old one, it is possible that this could be an issue if the doorbell is exposed to moisture or rain. You may want to check the seal around the base plate to make sure it is tight and secure. If you continue to have issues with your doorbell, you may want to contact Nest customer support for further assistance.

The doorbell keeps cutting on and off. my wifi works ok on the rest of my devices. and the base plate did not come with a seal. The old nest doorbell had a base plate that enclosed the entire rear of the doorbell. The new doorbell just has a metal strip with a hex screw on the top and no closure around the sides

And the nest service rep (844) 229-2209 has me on hold for over 45 minutes. I have been trying to get a service rep to come out and fix the open back of the doorbell to keep the water out

The doorbell cut off again. And google service still failed to send a rep out to look at the sifuation

Are there any lights illuminated on your doorbell?
