camera not recording whole event

We have two issues with our Cameras:
(1) Sometimes, the clip starts in the midst of an action, like when an animal is already in full view in the middle of the frame, or the clip stops when the animal is clearly not finished (BUT THERE IS STILL TIME LEFT ON THE MAX SETTING!)
(2) When the outdoor lights are on at night, the camera sometimes does not record anything, although we have seen the activity clearly with our own eyes.
Is there anything we can do?

A few questions: what type of Nest cameras do you have? When did the issue start? Was it working properly before? Are you using an iOS or Android device? Also, were the cameras setup in the Google Home or Nest app?
