A blocked latch may be the cause of your Nest Doorbell's (battery) inability to secure onto the metal mounting plate. The latch may be found on the back, above the USB-C port. The latch on your door is stuck in the release position if it is not extended. First, try pressing the release button a few times to see if it resolves the situation. You may also try pressing the latch to see if it works. You will need to disassemble the latch if it does not return to its expanded position.
