Workaround: created another "home" in Google Home app to add the device. Didn't like this option, but it seems to work.

Very disappointed with the quality of the security camera image/video though...my Wyze 3 had a better resolution. Come on Google you can do better than this!

PS having trouble with my Nest hub max speaker not recognizing numbers that are there in my google account(contacts)....but that is another thread...:(....

We are having the same problem. We purchased two google nest cameras (battery) and a wired google indoor cam, and  a nest doorbell. We have iPhones and not google but we downloaded the google home application and we’re only able to connect the doorbell to our account. Whenever we try to add a device on the app it tells us it’s having problems connecting to the support device.

Chatted with a Google chat specialist for 15 minutes....but I had to leave for a meeting. Very disappointed so far. Didn't have this problem with my nest hub max video smart screen(i've 3 smart speakers that connected.....although they don't see each other for some reason, but that's another issue).

I just posted this reply on a similar post. If you search this forum for "assisting device", you'll find multiple posts about issues with people setting up their new cameras and doorbells, along with multiple suggested solutions and workarounds--some simple and some not so easy. We have been fortunate and have NOT encountered the error with our new devices, so I don't know which work-around to suggest. Google Nest Support's posted responses say they're working on the problem.
