Hi guys,
Very frustrated. I was waiting on a really important parcel, I was outside in the garden, the doorbell was pressed and I knew nothing about it.
I have tried all the steps in the previous threads. Those steps seem to be geared towards people with pixel phones. When I go to settings > notifications > apps then google home. There is no such thing as doorbell notification toggles
This is completely unworkable for me. If I cant hear the doorbell go off when I am away, what's the point of it!? I did get the phone to give me a notification saying 'doorbell' like someone has walked past. But it does not ring
All of the notification settings btw are all set to off as default. Joe bloggs will not know to be going through all these back door settings just to get a basic video doorbell to work. Seems bonkers to me.
My phone is a Samsung s23 Ultra.
If anyone can help that would be awesome
Jonny

You have to enable "Push notifications" on your doorbell in order to get a notification when the doorbell button is pressed. It's not exactly intuitive.

Thank you 🙂
Those are enabled. however I only get a minor notification chime like if motion had been detected. it does not ring with the doorbell chime so that you know someone has rung the bell

On our iPhones, we only get the standard "Default alerts" sound, and have no option to configure any sort of a doorbell chime sound. I've seen posts in the past claiming there is some ability on Android phones to configure other sounds, but I can't speak to that.

in the nest app that we used originally the phone would ring like the nest speakers ring, the same as the sound the doorbell makes when you ring it. otherwise you wouldn't know the difference of someone walking past or actually ringing the doorbell

My earlier reply was mistaken; my apologies. For doorbell presses, with the 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app, we get a doorbell chime sound (which we cannot configure). I don't know what happens with the 2nd gen doorbells in the Google Home app. (or with a 1st gen doorbell that has been "transferred" to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app).
