i have a chime doorbell that has 18V from the transformer to the power contacts for the memory and a contact that goes to the front door for the door bell push button.  it supplies lower power to the pushbutton and i an getting a low voltage flashing yellow light.  i have no idea how to hook this up,   anyone have any ideas?

The transformer has to be able to supply a minimum voltage but also have enough power to supply the number of Amps that the Nest Doorbell wants to see.  According to the Nest website it says: "Doorbell power: Doorbell wiring (16-24VAC 10VA min, 50/60Hz NEC/CEC Class 2 transformer)."

You have an 18V transformer which should be sufficient. But find your transformer and see how many VA it can supply.  This may also be listed as WATTS which is the same thing as VA.  If it is under 10VA then you may have to replace just the transformer in your house.  You can but them on Amazon or your local home supply store.  Get one with the same 18V rating so your current doorbell still work properly.  And get one that is 10VA or better.

Hope this helps.

thanks,  i had the correct transformer but the existing chime door bell was not compatible because of how the button was connected.

i do have another question,  is the doorbell supposed to be motion activated?  i dont seem to be getting any notifications for movement on when the button is pushed

I'm not sure what you mean by how the button is wired.  Isn't there only 2 wires?

I may not be able to help you with your other question.  I have the Gen 1 (HELLO) doorbell and in the nest app you can set it to alert when the button is pushed and/or when someone just walks buy.   But I can't tell if those options are in the Google Home app.   If I were to upgrade I would miss that feature if it isn't there.
