wired nest camera won't finish set up; light stays green but does not turn blue

My nest camera has been working fine then today it said offline. Found the outlets suddenly not working on my porch (no breaker was tripped). Plugged it in to another outlet in the house to go through set up. Light is white, then turns green but does not turn blue nor chime. Set up gives me a message that something went wrong. Tried to reset but still no luck. What's going on? Any suggestions welcome. TIA

Update on outlets - reset the GFCI and the outlets are working fine now. Still no luck setting up the wired camera with the home app.

I'm not sure why you needed to "go through set up". If all that was wrong was that the camera lost power due to a faulty or tripped outlet, it should have simply come back online once you plugged it into a working outlet.

If you are trying to reinstall your camera in the Google Home app, you have to do a factory reset, which requires depressing the reset button/pin for at least 12 seconds (using the "factory reset" instructions, not the "restart" instructions):

This has happened to my doorbell yesterday.  It was working fine, then notified it was offline but now camera offline, wont restart, charge or factory reset, and won't reinstall to my app (it gets an error message).

Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Camera wired won't finish set up and it's offline, I appreciate all the efforts you've been making to resolve this inconvenience. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What model of Nest camera do you have?
    • Is it 1Gen or 2Gen?
  • How far is the camera from the router?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Check for Physical Damage: Examine the camera for any visible signs of damage, such as cracks, or loose wires.
  • Verify Power Supply: Ensure the power supply is working correctly. Check the wiring connection.
  • Reinstall the App: Uninstall and reinstall the app on your phone or tablet. Ensure you have the latest version.
  • Check Your Wi-Fi Network: Make sure your Wi-Fi network is stable and strong. Try restarting your router or modem.

@MplsCustomer, thanks for your help, that's a great resource for everyone!

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

Update: I did a factory reset (thanks to an earlier suggestion and a YouTube video), reinstalled the camera and it’s working again. Thanks to all who responded.
