Accident

So I have a chrome cast 1st or 2nd gen. I needed to change the WiFi that it was connected to and accidentally removed the device from my googlehome app instead of the WiFi but now my chrome cast is stuck on a reconnect me screen and I can’t find it when I attempt to set it back up on googlehome. Anyone able to help?

Have you tried to add the device again in Google Home, wile being connected to the same WiFi network as before?

So we’ve changed WiFi providers so no longer have access to the previous one. I tried resetting the chrome cast so I could re-add it to my google home so that I could change the WiFi but everytime I plug it in or turn it on it just goes back to the reconnect me screen and I can’t find it through the app to add it back

Can you use the button built to the Chromecast surface to navigate through the options?

After this procedure, you should be able to start from scratch.

Have you applied this procedure?

The button next to the micro-USB port on Chromecast is the Reset button. Press it and hold it down for 15 seconds. While you're holding the button down, the light on the device will flash, so release it when the light stops blinking and remains lit.

At the end of this procedure you should be able to start from scratch.

So the button allowed me to do a factory reset so thank you! Now the chromecast is showing a blue welcome screen that tells me to download the home app on the tv but my google home app still can’t find it to set it up again.

Have you deleted the previous device from Google Home and tried to add it again?

Yes that’s what I’ve done, I’ve deleted it from the home app and now I’m trying to re add it
