Apps on my phone loses sync to their casted content

I use the casting function with a variety of apps, and this happens it all of them. Disney+, Pocketcasts, HBO Max, Netflix, Spotify, Plex etc

I will cast content from the Android app on my Pixel 7 Pro to my Chromecast Ultra connected by cable to the internet, and after some time, depends, I will no longer have the controls in the dropdown menu, and I will have to open the app I was using, reconnect and then get controls back. In some cases also losing progress history on the movie, podcast etc in question.

Battery optimization turned off on the respective content apps.

What can be done to amend this?

Hey HeXeY,

Great question! Since there could be many factors affecting your casting performance, here are some suggestions:

  • Restart your phone and Chromecast. You can unplug your Chromecast Ultra for a minute, then plug it back in to restart it.
  • Ensure you have a stable network connection with both devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you have a dual-band router, connect both devices to the 5 GHz band for a faster connection.
  • Check if the apps you use for casting and your Chromecast are updated. Update your apps on the Play Store and follow this article for Chromecast firmware updates within the Google Home app.

Some phone settings, like Data Saver, Battery Saver, or background app restrictions, might interfere with casting. Ensure casting apps don't have any settings that might hinder their background activity.

Let me know if these suggestions work for you.

Kindly,
Angel
