All Chromecast devices other than the new Chromecast with Google TV can't install apps, they are purely casting devices. The Chromecast with Google TV uses the Android operating system and can have apps installed.
You can cast a browser from an Android mobile device or PC chrome browser to a 3rd Gen Chromecast, see instructions linked below.

Hi HermanG,
Navigate to the 'Apps' section on the top menu bar and the look in the 'Tools' section of app categories. Or search for "web browser" using the 'apps and games' search bar in the 'Apps' section.
Chrome browser is not currently available but other browsers are, I have 'Odin Browser' installed myself.

Sorry, I know I'm dumb, but where is the "top menu bar"? In my phone? In "Google Home" app? On the TV screen? I can't find it anywhere...

Hi HermanG,
You can find it on the TV screen. You may use the remote's directional pad to navigate it.
Thanks,
Jennifer

So I have to buy the Chromecast Voice Remote?

Hi again,
In your first post you used the 'label' saying that you own a Chromecast with Google TV..
This device is sold with a voice remote.
Is this the Chromecast device that you own?
05-31-2022 05:38 AM
I've bought the device without remote. I will send a picture (photo) of the packaging box in about 6 hours.

I've bought Chromecast 3.0. Remote has Chromecast 4.0. What should I do?

Only the latest Chromecast with Google TV can be used with the voice remote (that is sold together). All other Chromecast models don't use remotes, they are operated by a mobile device or computer and you cast the content to the Chromecast.
Have a look at the link below for information about the different models...

It means that it's impossible to have browser in Chromecast 3.0 (only in smartphone)?

I have Windows on my computer (no Android). Can I still cast a browser from my PC?

Hi HermanG,
Not a problem at all and glad to hear that you're able to get this working. In the meantime, do you still have other questions and concerns?
Thanks for the help here, Cathal_S. I appreciate it!
Best,
Jennifer

Unfortunately, I have one more problem. On the laptop I run VOD from www.cda.pl, but when I connect my laptop to the TV, only the word "cda.pl" appears on the TV screen on a red background. The film is not transmitted - neither video nor audio. But I guess that's a site problem.

Hi there,
Thanks for getting back to us. Is this only happening when casting from Chrome browser through this specific website? If yes, please try to reach out to the app developer for further help.
Thanks,
Jennifer
