Can't mirror phone screen to built it ChromeCast tv

Iilmica5

Just got a new TV. I'm having issues casting the screen from phone to the TV. I don't have any problems casting apps only when casting my phone screen. I've been working on this for 2 months now. What am I doing wrong?

Hey there Iilmica5,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that mirroring issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you some questions:

  • What model of TV do you have?
  • Do you get any kind of error message when you try to mirror your screen?
  • Are you following the steps from this article?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hello. I have not been able to fix the problem. I have the V505-H9 model. I get no message. It attempts to connect then loses connection every time. I don't know what to door what troubleshooting steps to follow.

No problem! Go ahead and check out these steps and let me know if it helps:

  • Cast screen is available on devices that run Android 6.0 or higher.
  • Screen casting via the Google Home app is not supported on Windows devices.
  • To start screen casting, Power Saving Mode must be turned off.
    • Power Saving Mode can limit the processing power of Android devices, which might affect the performance of the Cast screen feature.
  • You must allow Google Cast to use their network information.
    • Android 12 (Android S) users

Google Nest or Home speakers and displays and Chromecast devices may not be discoverable for people who run Android 12 on their mobile device.

During setup, you are asked to Allow Google Cast to use your network information.

Go to Settings > Use network information > Continue.

You also have the option to select Not now, but they can't continue with the setup.

  • Important: The Microphone permission in the Google Play Services app needs to be turned on to successfully use the Cast screen or audio feature with Chromecast. If you don't have this permission turned on, the Cast screen session will immediately disconnect after it attempts to connect.

To turn on Microphone permissions, ask customer to:

  • On the Android device, tap Settings.
  • Scroll down and tap Apps > Google Play Services > Permissions.
  • Look for Microphone and slide the slider on.

After following those steps, give that screen-mirroring another try and see if it still has any issues.

Best regards,

Jeran

I have casted from this phone numerous times before so I don't think it's my phone. I've checked all the other things and still nothing. It works fine on my Vizio D series tv just not this particular one

It may be worth reaching out to Vizio support about this particular issue. If your phone works just fine on other devices, and while casting from supported apps, it may be something affecting it on Vizio's side. The hard thing about Chromecast built-in is that it is open-source software, so functionality may vary from TV to TV.

I'm sorry I couldn't have been more helpful, but if you had any more questions or concerns, I'd be happy to address them.

Best regards,

Jeran
