Hey,
so I'm using a Vemont USB-C hub that provides 100W Power Delivery, used a 120W charger and the Chromecast still provided a g.co/cast/power screen. I have the charger plugged into my HUB's USB-C port, LAN connected and the hub goes into the Chromecast...any idea why it wouldn't work?
The only reason I wanted to go Ethernet is 4k streaming from my local NAS (through Plex). Any suggestions for it?

Officially, using a USB-C hub to power Chromecast isn't supported so your mileage is going to vary on this one. All I can suggest is to read reviews for a different hub that users have confirmed works as expected.

Thank you for answering...that is one of the reasons I chose Vemont, since a lot of the users said it worked for them 🙂

Yeah it's not ideal, this one is very much trial and error unfortunately. Was your Chromecast already setup before you tried to switch to using the hub? Or are you trying to set it up from scratch with the hub attached?

Yep, it was already setup before I tried switching. I initially thought the 67W charger I had at first was at fault, but after I got the same screen with the 120W one it must be something else...I even tried a different USB-C hub but with the same result.

I did see comments similar to this one:
I have one of these as well, and so far it works great. You need both power plugs (Chromecast and Hub) plugged in for it to work. The USB-C from the Chromecast power adapter goes into the DC In slot on the hub. There might be better solutions, but this is one I found on this sub and was talked up by lots of people.
I think they're referring to ones like this:
