Cannot Connect GCwGTV-HD with Home App

Bought two Chromecast w/Google TV HD units. Tried both of them for my office & neither would connect there. Tried one upstairs and that worked first time. Went back to try again in the office with other CC. Have followed all the troubleshooting advice in this forum, to no avail. So I purchased the ethernet adaptor, and still no success. Have turned off/on all components, reset the Chromecast unit, etc. The only hint on the TV Screen is for a few seconds it shows the Google "G" in the middle of the screen, but not every time I connect the CC to it. Quickly goes to "no input" on screen. Have rechecked the TV input to make sure I'm on the right HDMI port.

My components are: iPad and/or iPhone for Home App; TV is Dynex w/DVD player & two HDMI inputs; Comcast combo modem/router. Thanks for any add'l advice? Am at end of my rope on this one.

You mentioned you got one to connect upstairs without issue. Are you using Wi-Fi extenders or anything like that? If so, try temporarily turning them off?

It sounds like you've already tried some great troubleshooting steps. Here are some other steps you can try:

Thanks for the quick response, David. No, I'm not using WiFi extenders. My modem/router is a combo from Xfinity, an XB7-CM. I have tried all your troubleshooting suggestions, except trying to get at the router settings. But since the upstairs one worked on WiFi and I now have the Chromecast hard-wired to the router, the Home App should be able to find the CC device.........but, no, it doesn't. And from my PC, I can see the hard-wired CC as one of the current devices on the network. Stumped!

It's not an issue with the Chromecast or your Wi-Fi it it worked upstairs. That only leaves an issue with the TV you have downstairs? Did you try it in a different HDMI port? You're using the power cable and adapter that came with the device to a plug socket, not TV USB port?

Makes sense, David. I did try it in both of the Dynex's HDMI ports with same result. I have the CC device's power cable plugged into a wall socket and the TV's power into an extension strip.

What brand and model of TV is it? Does it meet the requirements detailed here?

TV is a Dynex DX-19LD150A11 Rev. A - a combo TV & DVD player. It has 2 HDMI ports, but I can't seem to find out if the HDCP version is 1.3 or higher. Bought it about 12-13 years ago.

It may be that's it's simply too old to support Chromecast given its age.
