Cannot cast desktop (Windows)

I am at the end of this trying to use this to cast a Steam game to my TV. I have an LG ThinQ smart tv. that works fine with my chromecast. I have the ability to cast a Chrome tab and my Chrome browser as a whole, but I cannot cast my desktop even though everything I'm reading says I should be able to. Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?

You can easily Chromecast by following the below-mentioned points. 

  • You should have updated the Chrome browser if you are not sure whether it is updated or not, click on the three dots in the right upper corner, and if any update is available it will be displayed there.
  • When you are casting, make sure to select "Cast Desktop" instead of "Cast Tab"
  • If you still find the same error, then uninstall the Chrome browser and reinstall it.

deanna1742, hope that helps, but if you're still experiencing the issue, you may check the antivirus of the computer. There are cases (mostly in Windows) wherein the Chromecast device fails to work after the antivirus finished an update. If this happens, call your antivirus provider. Rebooting your computer/laptop might also help.
