Cannot listen Dolby Atmos with Netflix or Disney

Hi, im pretty dissapointed with CCwGTV, buyed a couple of months ago and it struck to me all the issues with Dolby Atmos. I was confident that google would have repaired this issue with an update but no........ updates coming sparingly and not fixing this sound issues (with the exception of Disney that if not, no sound would be heard).

Let me explain, i have connected the CCwGTV to my vizio 5.1.2 on the input of the soundbar and the eARC output to a regular (non smart, non eARC) hdmi port of my tv.

Reading other posts about Atmos they are saying that you'll have to connect to the eARC port of your tv to process the atmos signal on the tv first, but why would anyone buy this Chromecast(CCwGTV) if in 2022 all TVs (that support Atmos or DTS) are all smart and do not need this device....

Otherwise its not Netflix only because subscribed to Disney this is the same and worse, no 5.1 at least is coming through the speakers because Disney dont let user choose a non Atmos alternative, as its the case with Netflix.

I need some clarification why google dont let us pick a sound passthrough option because the soundbar is already capable of decoding Atmos, DTS and Dolby Digital Plus.

I really need an advice or solution, otherwise this will be a piece of crap and a replacement will be coming as the form of a new TV? amazon fire tv stick?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

fmonpelat.

As far as I know Google development team is aware of these issues and many others for which I sent feedback, like the correct implementation of Dolby Digital dynamic range compression algorithm, but, unfortunately, they were not resolved by this time.

Correct implementation of Dolby Laboratories standards and decoding technologies requires some royalties to be payed to Dolby and some manufacturers simply refuse to pay for full Dolby support.

Current multimedia manufacturers don't have pride anymore and proper testing and development of a product before releasing it to the market is abandoned only to save money by using the customers as Guinea pigs.

That's business, capitalism and consumerism for you!

Chromecast with Google TV, wile practical, it is just a poor man's way to enjoy some streaming services.

If you really want to benefit from the pleasures of true multichannel sound experience, invest in a good Blu-ray player with smart capabilities and built-in Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital True HD and DTS HD Master Audio decoders, which will give you all the support and flexibility you need.

When it comes to implementing the HDMI standards, well my friend, it's a jungle outhere!

Although HDMI standards require some specifications to be met, unfortunately, they are not mandatory, at least for the moment, and, therefore, the various multimedia devices manufacturers are not obliged to implement all the specifications required for a certain HDMI stabdard, so they can pick and choose, at will, what features to implement and support (like Dolby Digital Plus passtrough).

In reference to the Chromecast with Google TV device, of course I totally agree that it should support Dolby Digital Plus passtrough to any TV, soundbar, preamplifier or receiver with a built-in Dolby Digital Plus decoder.

Standards should be mandatory and require certification.

I agree that HDMI standard is a jungle, I cannot argue you with that. With respect to Dolby Digital Plus / DD5.1 passthrough why isn't this feature a top priority (for Chromecast with Google TV)? it would fix a lot of sound issues for a lot of users.

Ive got a bad feeling about this... maybe google is planning to release new hardware and old one forgotten?

Thank for the response @djtetei
