Hi, looks a useful resource, thanks in advance to anyone replying.
I have a new, third generation I believe, Chromecast which replaced an older one. On that I could connect my phone to the tv, mirroring the screen on playing content. Can I still do this on the new device?
I have the Google Home app ticked green in Local Network.
What I’m aiming to do is get videos from the Neil Young Archives on the tv.
Ta!

You can't cast your entire screen from an iOS device, as they don't support that feature. However, you can cast from apps that support it. The app itself must support casting for you to be able to cast content from that app to your Chromecast.

Thanks! Unfortunately the app isn’t one I can cast from. I think with my old Chromecast I could mirror the screen though, which would be great but I can’t see a way of doing it with the new one. A rare time when technology advances but features are not so good!

All models of Chromecast support screen mirroring, but only from Android devices running Android 8 or higher. It has never been supported from an iOS device, and that's an Apple limitation.

Used to be able to screen mirror from my iPhone - honest!

Were you using an app on your phone to do that perhaps? Not the Google Home app?
