Hi,
I have Chromecast with GoogleTV (the Chromecast is plugged into the back of my TV) - this all works well.
But when I cast to the Chromecast from my PC, the TV automatically switches to Chromecast, the video plays with audio, but the Google TV interface is on top and I can't see the video.
The only way I can get this to work is to stop the video casting, then press back to exit Google TV and go to the screen with the clock showing - then cast again, this time it plays fine.
This seems like a bug to be, Google TV should close or hide when the user is casting.
Is there any way to fix this behaviour as its really annoying.
Thanks!

Hi, I've not tried Canary, I don't really want to try beta software...
... but I've found when the issue occurs, if I then cancel the cast (in Chrome) and cast again it works fine... I'll use this work around until the issue gets fixed.
Thanks for your help.

Does this happen with all casting (like Netflix, YouTube, etc) or only when casting from the PC (I'm assuming from Chrome?)?

So I'm casting from Chrome on my PC laptop (Windows 10), to the Chromecast.
I tried casting BBC iplayer - this seemed to work fine (at least when I tested it).
I've noticed this problem when casting from Channel 4 in the UK (All4 website) - so perhaps its a problem with All4 rather than Chromecast?
Shouldn't Google TV automatically close or hide whenever something is being cast?

Are you casting the tab (mirroring) or casting from a site that support Chromecast?

I'm casting from the All4 (Channel 4's) website, I click on the little cast icon in the top left corner of the websites video player which starts the cast.
I'm not casting the whole Chrome tab (if I'm understanding you correctly!)
Thanks,

When you tested the iPlayer, was that from the phone app or website? I'm guessing it is an issue with All4 if you have the issue only with their page and from other pages it doesn't happen.

I just tried BBC Iplayer, and the same problem occured.
Its strange as yesterday both All4 and Iplayer worked fine - but the problem has reoccured.
When it happens, the Google TV interface is displayed, and I can hear the TV programme sound - its almost as if it thinks its playing music - when I quit Google TV and the Chromecast goes to the screen saved (with the clock in the corner) the BBC Iplayer and logo is displayed in the right corner along with the TV programme sound.
All of these programmes are played from Google Chrome browser on my Win 10 laptop playing either the BBC Iplayer or All4 website.
Also, I've noticed, if the problem occurs, if I click stop casting in chrome and then cast again it plays fine (i.e with picture)...
I'm surprised I can't find anything on the internet about this so I'm wondering if its something to do with my setup... but my setup is fairly standard - Win 10 Laptop, Chromecast on Wifi...
mmm

I'll keep an eye out to see if anyone else posts an issue like this.

OK, thanks for your help. If I get a solution I'll post it here.
Are there any other Chromecast forums?

The only other community I'm aware of is https://www.reddit.com/r/chromecast

Is it not possible to leave this open as I've not got an answer... it would be useful to leave it open so that anyone with a similar issue can post...

I can leave it open for a bit, no problem! This is a strange issue for sure, I haven't seen it myself. Would you be willing to re-create the issue, then submit feedback via Google Home with logs enabled so that the engineering team can look into this issue? No pressure if you don't want to, but it would help out!
Thank you,
Jeran

No Thanks. I still have this issue and have not been able to find a resolution...

I'm real sorry to hear that, it may be worth it to change which HDMI port, or even the TV, that the Chromecast is plugged into, then re-create the issue. If it's still occurring, maybe try casting using Google Canary, then try again. That way we can narrow down the potential problem.
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there,
Were you able to give Google Canary a try, or were you able to get that issue resolved?
Thank you,
Jeran

Oh good, I'm glad that you've at least found a workaround for now. I'll go ahead and pass up feedback as well, so that the engineering team is aware of this issue. In the meantime, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread. If you run into any more issues in the future, please make a new thread.
Thank you for your help on this, InstantBits!
