I am having repeated issues playing Amazon Prime video on my LG tv through the Chromecast 4k. It will play fine through 1 program or part of a program and then I just get an endless “loading” circle. I have gone through various contortions, clearing caches, restarting app, reinstalling app, etc. Many of these maneuvers will fix the problem very temporarily (1 show at best). I have had to resort to playing Prime through the FireTV device instead of Chromecast, which is a pain. I have a very fast network so that is not the problem. I notice people were having the same issue back in 2021 with an older Chromecast device but it may have cleared up?

Hey there Lauren55,
I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that Amazon Prime video issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out where I can. If you've already updated your Chromecast's firmware, cleared out the cached app data on the Amazon Prime Video app and the Google TV app, and uninstalled and reinstalled the Amazon Prime Video app. Aside from outright factory resetting your Chromecast, you may want to reach out to Amazon Prime Video support to see if they are aware of any issues on their end.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.
Best regards,
Jeran

Thanks for getting back to me. I did go through all the above steps, and they seem to work while I watch one show. However, when I go to load the next show, I run into lots of lag again. I have tried reaching out to Amazon but so far no luck. In my search, I found references to this problem a couple of years ago, but nobody seems to be complaining about it now. I will try reinstalling the prime video app One more time, though I know I have done that in the past. I do have the very latest version of Chromecast.

Lauren, did you ever solve the problem? I'm having the buffering issue on both Amazon Prime Video and Amazon FREEVEE shows on two(2) Google Chromecast with Youtube TV devices 4K on televisions only capable of receiving 1080p. I have a WIFI 6 router/modem on Mediacom high speed 600 service. The Chromecast devices are hooked to my wifi 5ghz signal. I've followed all the advice, steps, updates and steps outlined in this thread ... as well as from all the older threads about problems with Amazon. But Prime Video and Freeshow shows still buffer whereas Netflix doesn't. Both devices are about a year old. I bought the two devices from Amazon and/or Best Buy after cutting the cord on cable tv in late 2022 ... so less than 9 months ago. Maybe I got old stock?

Tod, I'm sad to report I haven't solved the issue yet. I'm using a 4K TV. I don't think it is likely due to old stock. Has all the software is up to date. Especially since it seems to be so specific to Amazon products.

Hey folks,
Thanks for trying the steps. Since the issue is isolated to Amazon Prime the best thing to do is to contact Amazon support to check if they are getting similar reports.

I may pursue that at some point, but for now I am just going to access prime video directly through my smart TV. I don't like the interface and remote as much as the Chromecast, but other than that it works fine. It does seem a shame though to have to resort to that.

It’s still a problem, but seems more variable than before. Every once in a while there is just an initial lag but none once it gets going, other times it is unwatchable due to frequent long lags. AppleTV is now occasionally having a long lag just at the beginning of a show, which is new. Never seems to happen with Netflix or HBO.

Juni, my issue resolved shortly after my last reply. I would have responded sooner but couldn’t remember how to get back to this thread, sorry.

My issue is not lag. When trying to sign in, I get an error message when trying to get code. Amazon has checked and has no explanation and advised to contact Google.

I’m actually happy to report that my lag issue has resolved! Something must have changed on either the Google or Amazon end.
As to your problem, I have no clue. You are probably better off posting your question under a new heading to improve your odds of getting an answer.

Agree with Lauren … the lag seems better for me also. Thing is, with the new Google Interface, I don’t access a lot of Stuff through FREEVEE. Instead access through LIVE (800 plus channels, or so they claim). Listings. Also set up a lot of YouTube TV cloud based dvr library series. This is on a WiFi 6 modem router.
