I have my Chromecast set to 2.4Ghz. When I use a VPN to watch MLB TV and cast from my web browser if I select to optimize the cast after some time it will disconnect and the tv will show Chromecast has lost its connection. If I don't optimize I have no problem. With the VPN my WiFi download is 275-300Mbps. I had to reset the Chromecast after I had changed my WiFi router, so it should have the latest updates, I assume.

Thanks for reaching out. Chromecast devices don't support the use of VPN. Please disable the VPN in order for Chromecast to communicate properly with your wireless router.
