Chromecast 3rd gen needs reset - but no button!

I got the "can't connect to WiFi" error on my tv - found out it was due to having a different WiFi network than the one Chromecast was set up on (new router). Because i deleted the existing "offline" device in the Google Home Android app, I am unable to factory reset using the app- I tried to add the Chromecast as a new device but it will finish the [rpcess because the app says I have to do a factory reset. And there is NO button anywhere on the actual device. What do I do??

Hi @Brerg8r and @Mds1

There should be a button that you press to factory reset the Chromecast.

Thank you. I found the button but didn’t realize that the Chromecast needed to be plugged in to  be reset.

Jeran, while I was originally able to get my Chromecast to work, I switched locations (which is why I needed to find the reset button). I am now in Cardiff, Wales and while my Chromecast was able to reset, I can’t get it to connect to the internet here. Wondering if that is in issue with being outside the United States?

Hey there Mds1,

You should be able to use your Chromecast while traveling, if the internet is compatible with the Chromecast. I would encourage you to check out this article for more information regarding this. If the Wi-Fi is compatible, check out this article for some connectivity troubleshooting.

Let me know if it helps you out at all!

Best regards,

Jeran
