Chromecast 4K keeps buffering since update 1-4-2024

Since update 1-4-2024 Chromecast 4K is buffering a lot. Extremely a lot. OS version 12. Securitypatch TV-OS 1-4-2024.

I tried all solutions. Clearing cache, etc, I have added LAN, because I thought maybe WiFi was the problem. Disconnected Chromecast from power for 1 minute and restarted again. I even tried 2x back to factory settings. Removed all apps that were not needed, etc. But when Chromecast is on for more than 5 hours, buffering starts again. In the past I only had sometimes problems with buffering after a few months. But now I have it every day. Please come quickly with a new update of OS. This is terrible.

I completely agree with you and I'm experiencing the same issues. Since the update on 1-4-2024, my Chromecast 4K has been constantly buffering. Like you, I have tried all possible solutions: clearing the cache, using a LAN connection instead of WiFi, disconnecting the Chromecast from power for a minute, and resetting it to factory settings multiple times.

It's strange that your Chromecasts are buffering even after multiple troubleshooting steps. Let's see what is going on.

 

Have you noticed this buffering on all apps on your Chromecast, or do only certain apps seem to be buffering?

 

I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling your frequently used apps and checking if they still buffer. If possible, also try casting using a different phone or tablet.

It would be great to know which devices you are using to cast and if you see any error messages that could explain the cause of the buffering.

Hi Angel,

 

Thanks for answering. Buffering with Casting to chromecast is the same. When using the same apps on phone only, buffering not occurs. So it is really a problem with chromecast update. Before last Update all the same apps where working flawlessly.

I would suggest making sure your Chromecast isn't overheating. Since the buffering seems to be happening after 5 hours of use, overheating could be the cause.
