Chromecast Can’t Communicate with Iphone

emilyhaigh

So my Chromecast was working completely fine for months. I’ve just had a new router installed and a new TV.

I’m trying to reconnect my Chromecast and it’s just saying

”Master bedroom TV may be set up, but we could not communicate with it from your iPhone. Make sure that you have enabled local network access in your iPhone’s privacy settings. Then try again.”

I’ve been into Privacy>Local Network and made sure Google Home is switched on.

Ive reset the router twice, reset my phone, uninstalled and downloaded the app again. Nothing is working it’s still saying the same thing.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the help. The issue turned out to be with my WIFI, a certain setting needs turning off to allow Google products to connect. I managed to get around this by connecting a WIFI extender and using that. It all works fine now!

Thanks!

With a Chromecast you need to factory reset it when it is being put on a new wifi network, you so this by holding the button on the chromecast until it starts flashing , then setup as new.  Of course make sure your on the same wifi network!

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, Ashepherdson.

emilyhaigh, hope that helps, but if you're still having trouble setting up your Chromecast, please try to manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone Settings > Open Wi-Fi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set up again.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey there ConseilA2Balles,

Are you able to factory reset the TV, then set up the device afterwards? Either way, I would recommend that you check out this article on how to set up a Chromecast built-in, then let us know if you get stuck on any particular steps.

I look forward to your response on this!

Best regards,

Jeran
