Chromecast Cast button is GONE

Hi,

Could you clarify where the Chromecast button is missing? For example, is it only available in certain apps (e.g. Photos or Youtube) or has it disappeared from all of your services completely? If it's still available in certain apps, then post in the appropriate Google Support forum for that service.

It was gone!, missing, disappeared. But was able to find in the Save & Share in the drop down menu where the 3 dots are at the top right of the screen.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. The right way to cast from a computer using the Google Chrome browser is by clicking on the three dots located on the top right of the browser, then choosing the option “Cast” from the dropdown. You can right-click the cast button and choose “Always show the icon,” but chances are, if there’s any changes or updates to your Chrome browser itself, you may need to do that again. What you fail to understand is after Google Chrome update the cast button is GONE from the drop down menu, as in it's not there anymore. So how can you click on a button that no longer exist????

But it is in the drop down menu, you need to click 'Save and share' to find it.

Thanks to all for the clarification - Just lost an hour of my life trying to figure out why I couldn't find the cast button. Got it now though... so, Good.  - but, Thanks Google, it's not like it's something a lot of people use or anything, it's not like you should actually tell us and make your feature easy to find or use (drip, drip) - eesh

I understand your disappointment. Despite us being a different product (Chromecast and Chrome browser), it can’t help that we take some of the stones thrown. After all, we are all under one Google umbrella. The Chromecast devices didn’t make any changes, and they work as intended. The changes happened in the Chrome browser. I strongly suggest that you send feedback via the Chrome browser. Let them know how you feel about all of these changes. Hopefully, in the future, there will be proper communication about this, and users will be aware if there are any changes.

Yes mate, but finding the 'Cast' button was the problem.

After the Chrome update it's now located under 'Save and share'.

Hi Kimy, the "cast" icon was removed from Chrome on my PC (Windows 10) once I changed default browser. Still using the Chrome screen, "cast no longer appears available from the three dots, nor can it be added using the Google help advice. Any ideas? Thanks RB

That is basically WRONG!!!! The cast button is not anymore in the place it used to be, that is, at the first level in the three-dots menu. It's now under the save and share submenu. Why peoples (programmers...)took decisions like this that completely unjustified, is a mystery to me. And FYI, I'm a programmer, since 1990.

untrue or incomplete. You have to click the the three dots and then it can bef ound under the save & share option as stated by PainterMike above.  why you would hide something fundamental to the Chrome product as casting is very strange! (and the right click option only works once you have selected something to cast to, otherwise it disappears again!)

@Jcowden, that question has already been answered here in this thread. From the drop-down menu, choose Save and Share, and you’ll find the Cast option at the bottom.

Hi folks,

I hope everyone is already aware of how to find the cast option in Chrome. If you still can’t find it, kindly go to the 3 dots from the upper right and scroll down to click Save and Share; from there, you’ll find the Cast option at the bottom.

If you want to keep the cast icon, try this:

1. As soon as you click Cast under Save and Share, the message box will pop out, and it’s looking for devices.
2. From there, you’ll see the cast icon itself aligned with the 3 dots (upper right).
3. Right-click the cast icon and put a check on the "Always show icon".
