I need to cast a projector and my laptop. A friend recommended using Chromecast.
My research finds many articles about Chromecast TV and phone configurations, I have not found any support information about Chromecast used in conjunction with a projector and a laptop using Google Home. Google Home is a mobile device application only.
Is there a Chromecast product that supports a projector and laptop combination? If so what is it? Where can it be purchased? How is the Chromecast product configured?

To setup the Chromecast device, you need a phone or tablet that can run the Google Home app.

You can't use a computer to setup your Chromecast. If you do not have a compatible phone or tablet, you won't be able to do the setup steps.
Once you do get it setup, you can cast from your laptop to the Chromecast using the Google Chrome browser:

A couple of things to keep in mind. MOST projectors work just fine with Chromecast devices. But, Chromecast was really designed to work with TVs so some projectors may have problems. Also, both the video and the sound will be at your projector. Keep that in mind depending on your situation and your projector's speakers.

The projector's sound system is problematic so we use a speaker connected to the laptop to solve the audio problem. So, based on what you said, Chromecast will not allow the laptop to control the sound/audio. Please confirm.
I will go one step further to ask which Chromecast product do you recommend for our project?

Thank you for helping out on this thread, Byteguy!
Hey there smack,
If you use a Chromecast with Google TV, there is an option to add a speaker via Bluetooth that may help in this set-up, as you should be able to control the sound via the Chromecast Voice Remote, and the other Chromecast models do not support Bluetooth. As for your laptop controlling the sound, if there is volume control in the program you are casting from, you should be able to adjust the sound from there. Otherwise, the Chromecast Voice Remote would be able to help there as well.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any more questions, please let me know.
Best regards,
Jeran
