As these days I have a smart TV with reasonable apps, I only use the Chromecast for NBA League Pass via their official app.
The quality is terrible. I’ve factory reset, the Chromecast is 3 feet away from the Google WiFi router, I have a gigabit connection and usually get a connection in the high hundreds all around the apartment.
When I go into the Google Home app and into WiFi, I see the connection between the Google WiFi and the Chromecast Ultra is “Weak”.
I’ve not seen one solution that works.
I had someone from support recommend I buy another Google Wifi mesh point. I have factory reset. I saw someone recommend connecting via Ethernet/network cable - but into what? I have a modem router hybrid, which the Google WiFi connects into, and only the Google WiFi provides my wireless network. How and where would I connect the Chromecast with a cable? If I put it into the modem direct, I can’t access it via the WiFi. Would I need a switch going into the Google WiFi? New extra equipment isn’t an ideal solution.
I simply don’t understand why this device, working with a “sister” product, causes me such grief. The NBA app is remarkably awful, so I would usually blame this alone, but the “Weak” connection diagnosis in the Google Home app has me thinking twice.

I also have terrible video quality with NBA app via chomecast. My wifi -connection is great, so I think it's NBA app to blame. It worked great for months but in last week it started to be unwatchable.

Hi Steve_El,
Thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to help, I know how frustrating it can be when your Chromecast connection is not working quite right.
Here are some helpful resources:
I hope this helps!
