Chromecast Ultra won't connect to wifi

danielk2

I have a regular Chromecast (not sure what generation), and recently got an Ultra.  I can't get the Ultra to connect to the wifi.  It does see the internet wired, and the regular Chromecast works just fine.  I did factory reset.  It found a firmware update but that didn't help.  I turned off 2.4 Ghz on the wifi AP (TPLink EAS245) so only 5 Ghz wifi was available.  I made sure I wasn't blocking any ports or DNS.  But during the step to connect to wifi (setup using Android phone on same wifi network), it fails to connect to wifi.

Hey there danielk2,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that connection issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know networking issues can get tricky. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • What is the firmware of your Chromecast?
  • Have you already followed the steps listed in this article?
  • Is your 5GHz Wi-Fi channel set to a lower range? (36-48)
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
